Saturday 5 January 2019 was a perfect day for fishing from a boat…..
….or off the wharf……
Registration desk – with the three historic Whakapirau Cruising Club trophies on display. Winners in each category received a trophy, certificate, chocolates and a Coastguard raffle ticket
The fish were certainly jumping (one boat caught 35 snapper)…..but the weigh-in showed there weren’t many big specimens around…
The spectators enjoyed a relaxing wait for the announcement of the winners….
The winner of the Men’s Challenge was Luke Chappell, Oxford Street with a 1.93kg kahawai . Well done, Luke!
Huiping Li, The Strand took out the Ladies Challenge with a 1.12kg Snapper. Excellent result, Huiping!

The Children’s Challenge was won by Brody Hume, Rigby Street with a 0.87g snapper. Congratulations, Brody!

Historical Whakapirau Cruising Club Trophies, certificates, chocolates and Coastguard raffle tickets were presented to the winners by Peter Yardley at the event.  Individually engraved trophies for each prize-winner to keep – together with printed certificates - will be presented at the end of the 
WRRA AGM at 10 am on Saturday 20 April 2019.
(2018 Prize-winners will also receive their engraved trophies at the AGM).
Full details of the AGM, Guest Speaker and Easter activities will be circulated at the end of February.
